Hiking Preparation

Choose a safe and proper hiking trail

  • Familiarize yourself with the route

When planning a trip, study the route carefully. Collect information such as route length, road conditions, difficulty, shade level and duration, etc.

  • Do not hike alone

Go with your friends to ensure safety.

  • Act within one’s ability

Choose a suitable hiking route based on your own abilities. Do not force yourself to challenge difficult sections. Choose an itinerary that is within the capabilities of you and your fellow travelers.

  • Informing in advance

Inform your family or friends of the hiking trip so that they can seek help or call the police in case of emergency.

  • Enjoy Hiking App

“Hiker Tracking GPS Service” in the Enjoy Hiking app can facilitate the Mountain Search and Rescue Company’s search and rescue operations in the event of an accident.

  • Follow the route

Do not walk away from existing mountain trails. This can prevent accidents and reduce the impact on wild habitats.

  Paying attention to weather

    • Before your trip

When planning your trip, check the weather forecast first to see if it is suitable for hiking. Avoid high-intensity or long-distance hiking in hot weather.

    • Pay attention to weather changes

Always pay attention to weather changes on the day of hiking and during the hike to prevent accidents caused by unexpected adverse weather.

    • Beware of sudden rising tides

When visiting places like the coast, seaside, beaches and mudflats, pay attention to the ebb and flow of tides to avoid danger caused by rising water levels.

Reducing waste at source and environmental protection

  • Reusing utensils

Bring your own food and drinks in reusable containers. Use water bottles and water bags. Refill water at water filling station when needed: Water Filling Stations in Country Parks

  • Treating food waste at home

Prepare your food at home and put them in reusable food containers. Recycle or treat waste at home in advance to minimize the amount of waste / fruit peels that you would bring to the countryside.

  • Keeping your face mask properly

If you use a mask, use a face mask holder or storage case to keep your face mask. Do not just loosely hang it on your backpack as it could drop easily and pose hygienic concerns.

  • “Three Treasures” of Hiking

Reduce use of disposable cutlery and tissue papers. Use water bottles, handkerchiefs and food containers instead.

  • Leave No Trace

Take your own litter and anything that does not belong to the hills away.

When enjoying the fun of outdoor activities, always bear in mind that we should protect the environment.
